How to measure

Measure the insert, not the old cover. An old cover has stretched and will read larger than it should.

Measure seam to seam across the front of the insert, flat, without compressing it.

For a firm, plump look, choose a cover that matches the insert exactly. For a softer, more relaxed look, go one size up.
A note on units. Measure your furniture in inches, then use the table above to find the size to select. Our size selector shows centimetres, because that is how covers are manufactured, so the table gives you both.
Common measuring mistakes
- Measuring the old cover instead of the insert.
- Compressing the insert while measuring, which reads one to two inches small.
- Assuming every cushion on the sofa is the same size. Lumbar cushions are not.
Square or lumbar
An 18 by 18 inch square is the standard sofa cushion in the United States and covers most needs. A 12 by 20 inch lumbar cushion sits behind the lower back and works well on deep sofas and armchairs.
How many cushions
An odd number reads as deliberate on a three-seat sofa: three or five. On a loveseat, two matching cushions are usually enough.

Check the product page. Some listings are the cover only, others include the insert, and the option is stated in the size selector.
My insert is 17 inches. Which size?
Select the 18 by 18 inch cover. A slightly larger cover sits softly, whereas a smaller one strains at the seams.
Can I wash a cushion cover with a hidden zip?
Yes. Close the zip before washing so the teeth do not catch the fabric.
